Crowns & Bridges
From routine care to teeth restoration, we handle each case with the utmost attention.
Teeth that have been damaged by cavities or injury require professional repair. When a mercury-free filling is insufficient for optimal restoration, Dr. Cole may use an inlay, onlay, or dental crown to recreate the natural structure necessary for a functional, attractive smile.
Dental crowns cover the entire visible portion of a tooth, whereas inlays and onlays cover various portions of the chewing surface. Each of these restorations may be crafted from materials ranging from gold to high-quality porcelain. Early dentists designed beautiful crowns from high-quality gold, and this material still offers excellent benefits today.
Though Dr. Cole offers metal-free options for dental restorations, gold is an exception in some cases. This material is known to result in some of the most durable, longest lasting restorations due to its natural characteristics of strength and overall form. In situations where patient and doctor decide that gold is the optimal material for restorative care, a customized crown is special ordered and made by our dental lab ceramist to contain the highest gold content possible.
Many people today are accustomed to cosmetic restorations using tooth-colored materials, which are also available in our practice. Tooth-colored crowns are ideal for areas of high visibility. The base material from which our dental crowns are fabricated is zirconium, which is highly compatible with natural tissues and very durable.
Dr. Cole has over twenty years of dental experience, and the background to help patients confidently choose the dental treatment that will best suit their long-term needs.
A dental bridge is designed to replace a missing tooth when there are natural teeth remaining on each side. There are several types of dental bridges in which Dr. Cole has expertise, including the Maryland and Cantilever styles. Fixed bridges are often preferred for their longevity. The fixed bridge is anchored on the two adjacent teeth for optimal stability, but may also be designed to gain support from dental implants so that natural teeth remain unaltered.
It is our practice to collaborate with our patients, rather than dictate which treatment options are best for their unique needs. Our goal is to help our patients keep their natural teeth as long as possible. Should it become necessary to undergo treatment with a crown or bridge, we offer solutions that produce the best possible results.
